Working alongside the Halifax YMCA, we are a pantomime society of enthusiastic, dedicated and talented people of all ages that continuously come together to produce the highest quality and biggest amateur pantomime in Halifax and Calderdale.

The Halifax YMCA Pantomime Society formed in 1950 with their first pantomime performance in 1951 performing 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'. The YMCA originally supported two sections, The Amateur operatic Society and the Pantomime Society although over the years the line between the two has become less visible. The two groups joining in 1974 to perform "Jack and the Beanstalk". The Key figure in the pantomime society was Geoff Beck who wrote and produced many of the shows until his death in 1979. A memorial show was held in 1980 and pantomimes resumed with "Dick Whittington" in 1981, and have continued ever since. Over the last 30 years several groups have formed within the pantomime society, The Statesiders, Reflections and Optical illusion all who have done much charity work in the district.
