HALIFAX

Free School Uniform Scheme

Research by a leading children's charity recently suggested that over one million children live in families that put themselves in debt each year to pay for school uniform and that number is rising. The cost of uniform puts a strain on funds at a time of year when families are struggling with the extra costs of school holidays and school uniform grants are under pressure with many being cut or cancelled.

Here at the Halifax YMCA we noticed that Calderdale didn't have a central scheme available for parents to donate and collect good quality school uniform. The scheme was setup in 2017 and in the last two years has helped hundreds of families reduce the costs associated with new uniforms. The scheme is self funded by the Halifax YMCA so we don't receive any grant or funding from any other organisation.

All donations are welcome, including those with or without badges and both primary and secondary schools, trousers, skirts, dresses, blazers, jumpers, PE kit, shoes, pumps, outdoor coats and even book bags.

If you require uniform or wish to donate then please come into the Halifax YMCA, 13 Crossley Street. Halifax. HX1 1UG.  See our Contact us page for opening times
